Non execution of estate after grant

As above - one of OP's mother's family....but relationship to OP could be remote...0 -
It may be remote, but I wouldn't put a 3rd cousin as my exec? Would you? I would have put my husband (the OPs father) as the exec?
The point is, if they are relative of the Mother, they are a relative only once removed from the child. This would appear to more easily solved using that route.0 -
The OP's mother chose a relative on her side of the family, no doubt for personal reasons - the OP does not state his relationship with the relative.
It's not impossible that he does not personally know the relative.
One would assume that were they on friendly terms, the present situation would not have arisen, but then "There's nowt so queer as folk..."0
