Remortgage & valuation advice

Options
Dear all
we are trying to arrange a remortgage on our current house. However, we are half way through an extension and the place looks a bit unkempt!
When I spoke to Mort Adv in local branch Halifax he warned me that a valuer might give a valuation less than my perceived price due to this fact.
Does anyone know which lenders might only do a paper-based, postcode survey rather than a physical site visit? Or, does anyone have any advice apart from waiting?
thank you

Desk based valuations are used by most lenders, Halifax included.

If the total lending exceeds a certain percentage of that desk based valuation (typically 75% although this will vary from lender to lender) then a valuer will be instructed to visit the property.

If you're not raising additional funds I'd suggest you wait until the extension is complete. Some lenders may be reluctant to advance money with a building site attached to the property. It makes resale of a repossessed property difficult.
