No one has said those actual words, what Juliebunny means is that there are people who have posted who have agreed with what my neighbour has done. Their opinions. If you really do need the last word, go ahead, post again.0 -
I think it's time to move on from what's happened to how to avoid it happening again.
May I suggest you drop in to speak to them or a nicely worded note (yes I know you don't feel nice towards them at present, wait till you can be) stating that you had no idea that the height of the hedge caused them any concern to the extent that they acted out of charter, as that wasn't your intention, and would they be acceptable to something around 7' maybe........tall enough for you not to be able to see over it (so you can feel rural, no neighbours type feeling) and yet still lets 3' more daylight /less solid wall look to their garden so they don't feel so hemmed in.
Should either of you sell over the next few years it's never a good idea to have neighbour disputes have to be declared so lets try and stop it getting that far.0 -

I've tried to speak to the neighbour concerned, she won't speak to me about it. Not a word. I went round on Saturday when the hedge was cut, i don't do angry, i'm not like that, she wouldn't open the door. Her daughter has been round with the Police and we had a chat about what they were going to do. It's more or less sorted now. The hedge is now 5' i can see straight over it into her kitchen and bedroom, if thats ok with her then it's ok with me ! I can only see over it when i'm in the garden so it's not as if i'm going to be peering in every day ! The kids will when they're in the garden though ! From what her daughter said about her, i don't think she did act out of character ! She's a bit of a battleaxe ! (daughters words, not mine) I didn't know this until this happened, i'll be keeping out of her way0 -
It took me a while to register on that photo where the missing part of the hedge was, but then when i realised (having a slow day) what was missing I gasped out loud!!!!!!
Meer53 I would have recated the same way as you and i think you are being more than reasonable about it.Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.0 -

It's called debate.
No one agreed with what your neighbour has done, no one. If you disagree, I suggest you reread the thread with a clear head.
People on the most part have politely pointed out that your hedge seems huge to them and they wouldn't want to live next to it. If you can't accept that people have different views to you, I suggest you don't start any further threads.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
Meer53.....don't rise to this one....get a nice glass of punch, enjoy the day and have a bounce on that lovely trampeline in your nightie in full view of the neighbours :rotfl::rotfl:!Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!0 -

It's my day off and it's beautiful so i'm off in the garden !
No bouncing today though, will save that for when i've had a drink or 3
The gardener came yesterday and cut the trees, 2' off all round. Whilst he was "sorting out" the mess left by Saturdays "trim" he discovered that my fence had been removed so that my neighbour could get into my garden to remove the trees they'd cut down ! Why they didn't walk round i'll never know, it must be all of 75 yards. I did say it was ok for them to come into the garden to move the trees, i just assumed they'd use the normal route rather than taking the fence down !
Just another thing to add to my list if things go pear shaped ! Trespass !0 -
it is illegal to dump it in your garden!
Somepeople are frustrating these days... make me mad - why not just knock on the door!!!!!
hope you get it sorted0 -

Why?
Would it be as entertaining as people's comments about you being our resident Doomsayer on the 'Debate House Prices' forum?
I shan't trawl your posting history, unless provoked!0
