morning all,
had a good chat with the director last night before I left work to find out exactly what had happened - because of the stress and depression sometimes things get muddled in OH's head with remembering conversations etc. Director said that OH had asked him 'if you were in my shoes what would you do?' and director had said 'if I didn't feel well and I didn't look well, I would forget about work and completely focus on getting better' so OH said he would hand in his notice.
Director has said (and has put in writing) when he is ready to come back to work he is more than welcome back at the company - if his old job is still available (they are going to keep it open as long as they can) he can go back to his old job but if he would prefer a less stressful job then that can be arranged as well.
as I said before, its a good company to work for - its not a huge organisation and you are respected as a person rather than just being a number. they hate to see people leave (especially if they are a good employee) but they will try and support you in your decision as much as they can both financially and emotionally.
fingers crossed now though that OH will take advantage of the time off and concentrate on getting himself sorted - we have had relaxation/anxiety cd sent through from doctors and also a lot of other bits and bobs such as leaflets and books so all I can do now is keep supporting him emotionally and hope and pray.0 -
morning,
just read above and it seems things aren't looking so bad. just wondered if you had payment protection on your mortgage? if you were having problems paying the mortgage, don't some offer to pay your mortgage for around six months if your in difficulties.
just a suggestion, if things get bad. all the best with it all though

well done newcook for speaking to the director. as i said in my previous post i stepped in & had a word with my hubbys manager for help. Unfortunately my hubby was beyond any help within the company (it was a yr he was off), but at least they did give him a redundancy package when they needn't have. Of course things dont always work out but at least by the sounds of things your OH company are in his corner & recognize his need for help now before its too late. I dont know your financial situ but if your OH can afford to take a 3k pay cut & be happier then its worth it. My Hubby (who i didnt think would ever recover & its prob only 90% after 6 yrs) took a paycut of over 100 quid a week, but by pulling together we are ok. he is far happier & at least gets up each morning willing to work. i really hope you two make the right decision & i wish you all the best! goodluck0

thanks lexi - I'm sorry to hear about your hubby but glad to hear you are both happier.
I have said to OH that I would prefer him to take a pay cut and have a less demanding job than us be in the same situation in 12 months time with him being stressed out of his head!0
