Has anyone used Redspottedhankey free e-voucher

I was wondering if anyone has used their Redpottedhankey train voucher. MSE posted a freebie of £10 worth of loyalty points to use on Redspottedhankey. I've booked a train for next week and to collect my tickets from a self service machine. The tickets cost £8.40 and I've had an order confirmation number emailed to me.
My question is, can I just key in this number into the machine or do I have to use a debit/creditcard and then key in the confirmation number. I'm a bit wary of using a card for a FREE offer.
