I have recently become self-employed (House/Petsitting) and expect to earn no more than £2k a year. I am 62 and draw my State Pension of around £5.5k a year. This is my only income, although my husband has an income of around £11k a year from his Teachers Pension and a small amount of Incapacity Benefit.
I know I will not have to pay NI as I am past retirement age, and my income will not be enough to be liable for tax.
My work comes via an agency.
My question is, do I need to inform anyone of my self-employment?

Yes. You need to register as self employed with HMRC even though you don't earn enough to pay tax.0
