Next step...flowers! Real or silk? Where?

Hi all, so far for my wedding next April we have booked church, reveption, photographer, deposit for suits, and I have decided on my dress. So next step I believe is flowers. I'm happy to have silk I think, my mum is up for silk but my mother in law and bridesmaid are saying I should have real. What are you having? Also, where do I need flowers for? What's the norm for in a church? Any good websites? Or ideas for oranges, yellows and ivory colour ?

Wow you are incredibly organised! Mine is also next April and only thing booked so far is church
I'm afraid I have no idea about flowers so I'll be watching your thread with interest... 0 -
I'm having silk for the following reasons... I want to keep my flowers after the ceremony, I don't want to risk them wilting and looking crap on the day and I don't want anyone to be rushing around dishing out bouquets and buttonholes the morning of the wedding.
Not had a quote yet, but am looking to spend around £50 on mine and £30 on the BM's. not sure about the buttonholes yet. Been smoke free for 4 years!! :beer:0 -
Im having artificial.
Im incredibly lucky that my mil2b works in a shop that specialises in artificial flowers, and so is doing all of my flowers for me. She is almost finished and they look absolutely amazing, Im so chuffed with them.
Ignore what everyone else thinks you should have and go for what you want.
Im just having flowers for the bridal party and for table centrepieces. I know sometimes you have them in churches, but Im not sure how it works (ie some people have arrangements that are then taken to the reception, other churches you can split the cost between other couples getting married that day)0 -
Im having silk and making them up myself x0

I'm having a brooch bouquet with foam roses and feathers put in to break up the bling. So far it's cost me around £50 for all the bits and I'm making it up myself. Bridesmaids are having a teal big headed flower from wilkinsons at £1.25 each, I'm wrapping the stems in ivory ribbon.
No idea about OH yet but as he's having his mum as his best person I'm going to make her a brooch buttonhole with the left over brooches so excepting OH's and my dad I'm looking at about £60.
I'm having artificial as we're going abroad and I didn't want to risk the florist in the area not having what i wanted.0 -
We're having artificial - we were going for silk or foam but ended up with wooden rosebuds - they look amazing and the whole lot, for bouquet, 4 posies, flower girl wand, 5 buttonholes, 3 corsages and a large table display came to less than £85!0

We're going for Artificial Aswell.
Got my Bouquet for £29.99, Bridesmaids £8.50 each (there's 2) A double rose buttonhole for OH for £3.99 and 5 White buttonholes for £5.
They haven't arrived yet, Have had to wait 5-6 weeks for them, but they're on their way apparently. Hopefully they arrive today
What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0 -
