Late Utility Bill Payments affect Mortgage?

Options
As some of you may know, I'm currently trying to sort my credit file out so that when my default drops off my file in October we can buy our first house.

I've just received my Experian Credit Report in the post and it shows alot more info than Equfax does and I'm concerned about a few things on there.

Unbeknown to me, I have some late payments, all of which are for British Gas as follows:

One account shows that I'm currently 3 payments behind and in the history there are seven payments with a 1 above and one payment with a 2 above.

Another account shows two payments with a 1 above and one payment with a 2 above.

A third account shows three payments with a 6 above, one with a 5, one with a 4 and one with a 3.

Are these likely to cause me issues when applying for a mortgage?

How long will they be a problem for? I know the accounts stay on my file for 6 years but how long will they cause a problem when applying for a mortgage?

    Hi there,

Time is a great healer on these..

So long as they are not defaulted, they should only become an issue for the 12 months after they were listed.

If they are not yours, you can disassociate yourself from the negative entry..

    Good luck

    Thanks for the reply.

I have emailed British Gas asking for a list of accounts they have in my name because at present their are 4 entries for British Gas (electric) and 3 entries for British Gas (gas) and I really don't understand why.

It just feels like whatever way I turn, I'm not going to be able to buy a house any time soon. It's so frustrating.
