The £1000 is also about learning NOT to spend money even when it is yours and there to spend. For 80% on here(from what i have seen) £1,000 wouldnt do a lot in the way of clearing much. Theres posters with £50k+, interest is much more than £1k a year.Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.

Bumping this thread. Any more Dave Ramsey fans???
I've just started BS2 - I want rid of that loan once and for all!!!!Dave Ramsey Fan[/COLOR]0 -
I'm working on it, just started earning more/doing more market research jobs so once the money kicks in can work on getting rid of some debt.
We have come a long way since reading about Dave Ramsey, we dont incur debt, we manage our money much better but we've lacked the income to pay the last bit of debt off. We have a loan that finishes in 3 years, cant pay extra off it and its a low rate so going to focus on the credit card.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0 -
I've just been motivated to take a look at our finances by reading some of Dave Ramsey's advice. I thought we were doing ok, paying off all debts bit by bit and not spending more that we bring in, but I hadn't thought of making our debts a priority, and I hadn't heard of debt snowballing before (I just thought yey, more money for us each month, rather than putting that amount on the next debt). I'm excited to get start dealing with them!Go to the ant, thou sluggard0

Good to get another post on this thread! I just found out I could listen to the show on TuneIn radio on my phone. There's a lot of adverts (it's amercian) but good to know it's available.
It's common sense information but good to hear someone saying it straight to people.Bank Loans: [STRIKE]£25000[/STRIKE] £0- Barclay Card 14%: [STRIKE]£2500[/STRIKE] £0- Student Loan: [STRIKE]£12,500[/STRIKE] £0

My advice would be to take note of the financial stuff and ignore the religious stuff if its not applicable to you. For example not so many uk people would pay tithes to the church but it seems its quite common in America.
There used to be a great forum at llnoe.com (living life like noone else) but it got hacked and not sure if its back up and running as it used to be. That one you dont need to pay for unlike the forum on daveramsey.com.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0 -
I like podcasts too, will have a listen (plus the church stuff applies to us too! Good to get a reminder).
Anyone know, if you dip into your emergency fund, what are you supposed to replenish it with? Do you just stop making overpayments on debts until it is topped up? Thanks

Yes, you stop all overpayments until your emergency fund is back to normal, which is £1000 in the bank.Bank Loans: [STRIKE]£25000[/STRIKE] £0- Barclay Card 14%: [STRIKE]£2500[/STRIKE] £0- Student Loan: [STRIKE]£12,500[/STRIKE] £0
