Halifax SVR raise to 3.99%

Options
Hello All,

I would be grateful for any feedback out there :-)

I'm one of the thousands of unlucky Halifax customers that will be faced with higher monthly mortgage payments from 1st May 2012.

Has anyone received any correspondence yet from Halifax confirming what their new monthly payments will be? The website advises not to ring because they are in the process of working out everyone's new payments but i need to know what mine will be so I can start reorganising my finances and tightening my belt...again.

I rang them anyway despite what the website says and they still won't tell me....so annoying.

Has anyone else found that the advisors on the mortgage services helpline are pretty rubbish to say the least?! They never appear confident about anything they've told me and i have to drag info out of them because they don't offer any advice freely. Maybe i'm just too demanding....but I know i'm not, i just want answers...it's my mortgage. Help!

Yeh, I'm in the same boat and still waiting. Think they are sending all letters out in April sometime but we needs to know last week not in a few weeks time. Sure they have a anwfull lot of calculations to do and send all the letters out but I'm sure they could tell you if you personally ring up.

    Shame on them.

I'm not budging though and they can keep me on the bog standard rate as I'm not paying their repayments Fees and all that.

Also I'm trying to overpay as much of as I can over the next few years and lump sum payment where and when I like hence not getting any overpayment charges.

    cheers.

Use a mortgage calculator to work it out yourself. Put in your present figures first to make sure you're inputting it all correctly, and then change the 3.5% to 3.99%

As a rough guide for every £10,000 balance left on the mortgage it will go up £4.16p per month for a 0.5% increase in the SVR.
