Default removal??

Hi all, will try to keep this shortish!
Back in about 2002ish my OH had his work shifts reduced from nights to afternoons, this came with a reduced wage of about 1/3 p/w. At the time we had several credit cards and a loan. We foolishly moved from one to another trying to clear debt but it always increased:mad: This carried on till Sept 2005 when I contacted CCCS, what a god send, they arranged a payment plan which which started 01/11/2005. We really wanted to repay our debts so remortged the house (last payment was 29/09/2006) and offered F & F offers, which were accepted. On my credit file only 2 have a default notice, the rest were marked satisfied. I know they stay on file for 6 years but is that from when we started the p/p or when we settled the debt?
We never missed a payment before th p/p but only paid minimum, so debts were hardly reducing.
I welcome any advice.

They stay on file for 6years from the default date.
Those without defaults stay on for 6years from the settled date.

In both cases at the 6year point the whole account entry stops appearing.

    Many thanks.
Being in debt (£38,000) is a very dark and lonely place, one thing's for sure i'm NEVER returning.
