Nationwide - good experience

Just a thumbs up for Nationwide, who have been outstanding in helping a first time buyer get a mortgage application rushed through to beat the stamp duty deadline (put in offer a little over two weeks ago).
It's a new build which completed today - the mortgage was approved within seven days and the service from the bank couldn't have been better, both in branch and over the phone.
So a big thumbs up to Nationwide for being surprisingly "un-bank-like". Not often that I post success stories on t'internet but this is a case where they genuinely deserve it. :j

Its good to hear positive things about lenders.
I dont really hear too much negativity about nationwide as a whole but its good to balance it up a little with good stories....there are some aroundI am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. In the old days, we'd describe that as "building society-like" which Nationwide still is.
A return to the values of mutuality could stand many building societies in good stead in the current climate.
After all, they could actually tell people they aren't banks and what that difference actually means!I am a mortgage broker. Nationwide were brilliant with my mortgage too. I've had a couple of small problems with them over the last couple of years, but they were minor and sorted relatively quickly, and having banked with them over 10 years, they've done so many things well. I'd not hesitate to recommend them. Thumbs up from me too0

My recent history with Nationwide has been poor, with the last application I did taking 3 months before my clients asked me to change to a different lender. I havent used them since.
However, I have been hearing more and more good things about them and am now in a position to give them another chance. Reports like this help me keep my knowledge current so thank you OP for that.
When a lender lets you down as bad as Nationwide did with my clients you are very worried about using them again, but if you dont use them, how do you know when their problems are fixed?I am a Mortgage Adviser

Not happy at all with Nationwides attitude to myself and my wife. We have offerred to pay the Early Repayment Charges to come of our fixed rate and move to another product they have refused and told us we can pay the E R C and go elsewere though. This is shocking shabby treatment of long standing loyal customers which we are. You can pay the E R C and transfer off a tracker though, and nots let forget the E R C was built into the product when you took it out to allow you to do this. We are going elsewere the co-op bank have done us a very good deal 3.59% fixed for 5 years with no fees. They have been very professional freindly and very quick to set everything in place, highly recommended. As for the Nationwide the Ombudsman is now having a look at our complaint regarding the terms and conditions we both agreed to at the outset of there fixed rate product. Also they managed to send us the details of another customers complaint instead of ours, with all there complaint details in the letter but our reference number, our address and our date of complaint etc not very proffessional there then.0
