Ionic hairdryers-what's the story?

Hi, I have been looking at new hairdryers, thinking about replacing mine as the dog ate the concentrator flow nozzle and its very big and heavy.
I have seen quite a few that say " now with even more ions"!
THey claim to be better a keping down frizz, frizz is a big problem for me! I have used every treatment, oil, conditioned etc but my hair is naturally curly and prone to frizz.
Can anyone tell me if these dryers are any better than ones without ion technology? Thanks.
As always, searching for the Holy Grail of hair products, but even a small improvement would be welcome!

I have one and have found it makes absolutely no difference to frizz whatso ever. ( frizzy curly long hair)0

I have just purchased one! I don't suffer with frizzy hair but my hair is very fine and goes really static & flyaway. But I have found that it's been much better since I started using my new hairdryer...0

I bought one about 7 months ago as my old one died. It was the cheapest one in Tesco at the time. I have very fine hair and have found it makes a difference, don't ask how it works but it does for me.0

Can those of you who bought and like ionic hardryers recommend any particular kind? The Babyliss Elegance semms to have some good reviews. Any other recommendations?0

I have fine hair and treated myself to a £75 Parlux ionic hair dryer. I am totally gutted to find that it makes my already greasy hair much worse0

Crikey that's one expensive hairdryer!
I'm sure if you switch shampoos you can counter the greasies.
I have started to use the difuser or just air dry as 50 years of denying I actually have very curly hair have finally ended! Embrace the curl is my new mantra. Honestly after only 3 or 4 weeks it is much better condition but has taken on a life of its own. I look like Medussa in the mornings!Norn Iron Club member 4730 -
I bought a Treseme one that has the ionic tech (it was just the cheapest with a diffuser in Tescos) and I was shocked that it actually made a difference!! I have hair very prone to frizz, naturally curly, but usually heat treated, so dry etc. I am now able to rough dry in before using the straighteners, whereas before I could never rough dry or it wouldn't recover. It just seems to minimise the over-dry fuzz that I used to get.0

Im looking for a good hairdryer for my daughter so came across this thread. I just read a little bit on 'Which' who tested the ion hairdryers and apparently it makes a small difference - it could only be seen when individual hairs were hugely magnified that they were smoother and less frazzled by the heat, but it also said the same result is got by lower temp and taking a bit longer to dry your hair...Light Bulb Moment - 11th Nov 2004 - Debt Free Day - 25th Mar 2011 :j0

I decided to buy the Babyliss Elegance ionic dryer. As one or two others have said it makes my hair greasy too.......and I have normally quite dry hair.
The type of shampoo/conditioner used makes no difference. Very disappointed. Glad I held onto my old dryer.
Think twice before buying.0
