Friday 23rd March - What small DFW things will you do today?!

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important

Morning all,

Me starting the thread again, where are you Pixie & DNMS?

For most of you yay it's Friday! For me that means a 11.5 hour working day, if you include the travel time & lunchbreak that I don't get paid for, that's a 14 hour working day, ouch. No wonder I always need more hours in the day!

Today I will:-
  • [strike]Cycle to main job & home again[/strike]
  • [strike]Food from stores[/strike]
  • [strike]Leftovers for lunch[/strike]
  • [strike]Make use of free water/milk at work[/strike]
  • [strike]Stay in for my lunchbreak to avoid spending other than to go to Thorntons & claim my free egg :D Today is my last day of "naughty foods" & then the diet starts properly, not looking forward to it![/strike]
  • [strike]Log calories using free app & use another free app to track how many calories I burn whilst cycling[/strike]
  • [strike]Charge phone at work[/strike]
  • Check for surveys
  • Enter comps
  • Check online banking
  • [STRIKE]Try & keep the heating off[/STRIKE]
  • [strike]Work on wedding related tasks[/strike]
  • Take a look at diary to ensure I am up to date & prepared for everything coming
  • Check cashback
  • [strike]Check fleabay[/strike]
  • [STRIKE]Dinner from meal plan - using up the mushrooms, garlic & onions are they're not allowed from tomorrow[/STRIKE]
  • [STRIKE]Go to second job tonight & as always, hope for lots of tips![/STRIKE]
Have a great, MSE day everyone x

Morning all, hopefully on the last of this cold now - just about sick of it.

Have to keep waking up early even though not slept well to let work know before I'm due to start, does puzzle me why with a cold , that's likely to last anything between day to week off that have to inform each day :-( when it's the last thing u feel like doing. Sill I'm lucky that I do get paid so I guess it's a small price to pay .

Thank you ziggy for your kind words the last few days :-) xx

Being off I nearly succumbed to the dreaded Jeremy Kyle show - until 1 min in I was already sick of the shouting lol and quickly came back on here!

Pay day next Thursday so need to plan a budget. Wedding is June and although everything booked still plenty to pay for..

Wish I could win lottery!! Wonders if worth driving out to Nottingham - isn't that where the last few winners have been oh and Corby isn't far ....

Have a good day all xx

    Morning all :hello:

    + Check banking
    + Post eBay sales
+ Pay in cheque that has FINALLY arrived
+ Make some payments because it's payday, hooray! :T
    + Recalculate spreadsheet

Hoping for a low spend weekend. I'm away and seeing friends but no meals out, so shouldn't do too much damage!

    Happy Friday :)

EDIT: Made payments and updated my signature- it feels so great to have my o/d under £1000 and loan under 6K! I'm dancing in my chair!

Thanks Bt1! I'm also counting down to payday, 5 days for me too :)
DNMS - I am envious! Although I guess if I was driving I could be later in the mornings, but it's good for my bank balance & good for my figure so better keep at it while the weather is nice.
Yargo - I have to do the same where I work unless I have a doctor's note. Plenty to pay for my wedding too & need to double check what I'm paying & when!
    Yorpington - Well done!

Hi all, It's beautiful here today and (sorry Perni) it's my day off! So today:
    • Washing on line.
    • Received cheque for old mobile so that money paid off cc.
    • Got some watchers on ebay.
    • Husband has been paid for extra days he has worked.
    • Heating off, is lovely and sunny here.
    • My friend went to Aldi and got me some onions, so 39p spend instead of around £20!!
    • Husband forgot his lunch but managed to pop home so we sat in the garden for the first time this year!
    • Lovely dog walk, chose a local one to save on petrol.
    • Dinner will be leftover stew from freezer. Must take it out.:o
    • NO WINE!!!
To be honest, I think it's cutting down the wine to one bottle a week that is saving us the most money at the moment!:rotfl:

Hi ladies, quiet today! Thanks for starting the thread Perni, hope everyone is well!

Been a manic day for me today, we moved offices and had to still do regular work, I've left the place in a tip but at least it's all moved now! Off Monday so looking forward to a long weekend, fingers crossed weather stays good! Also didn't get job I interviewed for on Thurs, sort of gutted as it would have been a payrise but at the same time I don't think I was capable so swings and roundabouts. I got good interview feedback though, and there's potential in the pipeline so hey! Onwards and upwards!

    Today I have:
    Checked banks, been paid, yay!
Transferred money around to various pots
Paid off my holiday CC - yippee!!! Currently my only debt is the loan which is budgeted for and low rate so now I can start throwing my CC overpayments at my ISA/house fund, so very pleased with this!
Sorted out where I'd been overpaid/underpaid with travel last month so now back on even keel, with a nice little bonus pot of money now!
Colleague bought lunch as part of celebratory office move picnic!
OH buying dinner as a commiseratory sorry you didn't get the job gesture - think I fancy Indian!
Went to Boots and bought essentials with my Love to Shop voucher
    SB clicks
    Posted test items
Updating MS money as I type!

    Have a great evening all!

It has been a very busy day today however I am glad that I have managed to get most of the things done that were on my list. I'm feeling stressed with the wedding plans but I am sure that it will all fall into place eventually.

Hope everyone has had a good Friday and enjoyed the nice sunny weather, hopefully this weather will last.

For now I think it is time for bed, night everyone, hope you have a good weekend.
