Hairspray - does anyone use it on flyaway hair

I have fine hair that's flyaway but also frizzy. I've tried every styling product going from mousse to serum but I've heard that hairspray is good for taming fine hair but its something I associate with the big hair of the eighties. Does anyone still use it?

Occasionally if I'm desperate! I dont find it very good, it just fuses the frizzies into a nest.It does not make my hair lie down smooth.
Have you read my hairdryer thread and have you an opinion as we seem to have similar problems!Norn Iron Club member 4730 -
Yes, I use L'Oreal Elnett as it's light and brushes out easily if you apply too much.
I spray a very fine mist then lightly smooth down flyaways with a brush. I mainly use it when I'm tying my hair back in a pony tail as one side has a lot of baby hair and flyaways.0 -
I use occasionally when my hair is a bit flyaway. I spray it onto my hairbrush and then brush through, tend to find then I don't put too much on.0

Hi, no I haven't seen your thread. My hair is very fine, flyaway and weak, greasy at the roots but dry on the ends, never lays flat and smooth. I just can't get it to look how it used to do, I am going through the menopause and my hair hasn't been the same since this started. Do you have any tips?0 -

you could be describing my hair here! Occasionally I will use hair spray but only really if I am going out, as it does make a difference but means my hair is much more greasy than normal the next day.
When I do use hairspray it is always (as Skyllo said #3) L'Oreal Elnett as it is the lightest hairspray that I have come across & it does brush out without making your hair sticky. If my posts have random wrong words, please blame the damn autocorrect not me

have you tried using serum? I have fine hair that gets greasy easily at the roots, but because i straighten most days the ends suffer.
I find a tiny amount of serum run through the ends when its wet then brushed through as I dry it is enough to tame the fluff. Its got to be a small amount though, for my shoulder length hair I only need half a pump which is less than a pea size blob.Bow Ties ARE cool "Just because you are offended, doesnt mean you are right" Ricky Gervais

i have fine, curly prone to frizz hair,i have tried ALL SORTS of products!
at the moment i am fairly happy with it-i've used garnier nutrisse to colour it,which seems to have altered the texture (don't know how??) and curly hair mousse to dry/style.
when its dry i rub a little of the boots essential curl crem (think thats the name, pink gloop in a pot, cheap) over the frizzies.its working for now.
if i'm going on a special occaision when i want style to last i too use ELNETT.LIVE SIMPLY * GIVE MORE * EXPECT LESS * BE THANKFUL0 -
I would recommend L'Oreal Elnett too, it is very fine, it doesn't matt my fine hair into a petrified forest like supermarket own brands. On the other hand if you have fine hair and want the RPattz bedhead look, Tesco hairspray works

I have very fine hair that is full of electricity. I always put spray on after blow drying (not fussy which brand but I get a "natural hold" one not "firm hold"), leave it a few minutes then comb through, so my hair has movement but also has a bit of body.
Been doing this for decades, it works well. Otherwise I'd have flat hair stuck down to my head because of the electricity in it.
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe
