bos loan ripped me off can i do anything?

i went into a branch and applied for a 10,000 loan. i know i don't take anything in when in an office looking at the paperwork i panic but i knew from in the past about 24 hour-48 hour cooling off periods so when i get home i read over the paperwork on my own without someone staring at me! i have done this with a few things and when reading over them alone i have came across things i don't want so i have called up and cancelled the agreement and this has been fine!
The loan i took with the bank of Scotland i took home read through actually saw _pale_ the interest rate i realised i could get a far better deal else were so returned to the bank 2 hours later to cancel the loan and they said they had no cooling off period! to return there 10,000 loan it cost me 500 more for early settlement and it had only been in my account for 2hours untouched! is there anyway i can claim that money back? Please Help:embarasse:wall:

  • They didn't really rip you off, you just didn't read the agreement.

You have 14 days under the Consumer Credit Act to cancel / withdraw from a loan. It will say in the agreement how you can cancel this - I'd read through it to find the section on cancellation, and then do as it says. If it says to write to X address, then only write to that address, and send recorded delivery.

There is no legal cooling off period if you sign on trade premises.

You walked in, asked for a loan, got a loan.

Had you applied over the phone or internet, signed in your own home and posted the agreement back ... 14 day cooling off period.

Why did you sign something you hadn't read? Couldn't you have taken it home, read it and then decided?

You were told in your first thread back in 2009 to read the agreement but you never replied to that thread and probably wont with this 1.
