Letter from the Halifax?

Got a letter saying my mortgage is going up .5%.Here we go,the banks now think they don't have to take any notice of the Bank of England base rate and can jack their rates up when ever they feel like it!
Someones gotta pay for Lord Fat Greedy !!!!!!!s yacht I expect.
Is this going to become the norm?

    They don't have to take notice of the BofE base rate.

    They don't raise their money at those rates.

    Money market rates are increasing. They are simply passing those increased costs on to you. Giving you two months' notice no doubt.
