Awaiting references

Got offered a new job last week, subject to references and CRB. I think i'm more nervous waiting for my references to be sorted than i was at the interview!

My current employer will give me a good one. My previous one i only did temp work for, not even sure they'd remember me!

There's no reason why my references won't be good, and i had an enhanced CRB for my current job, so no worries there, but i'm really worried the plug will be pulled! No reason it should be, it's with a very trusted organisation, but this waiting is horrible!

I just want to hand my notice in now! What makes it worse is that i really want this job, and have waited a year and a half for it to come up. I want them to put me out of my misery and send me my contract!

My daughter is in the same position. The new employer is waiting for her current employer (an ageny) to send her reference. She has received her new CRB, health form, etc and is just waiting on this one piece of paperwork, but her agency told her the other day that they are sending it this week. My daughter is so pleased to be taken on by her new employer. She has done some work for them via her agency already, and when a vacancy came up, they rang her and asked her if she wanted to apply. She drove straight there to get an application form. The waiting is a bit difficult, but my daughter is continuing with her agency work until it is time to start her new job. She hates being sat around doing nothing.

OP, good luck with your new job. The waiting will soon be over.
