Smelly shoes

Hi
I've done a search on here but, apart from herbal tea bags, no ideas! I used to use "Gran's Remedy" - from Hawkshead - but they don't sell it any more and I can't find a seller in this country
. Thought people here might have ideas how to reduce the smell from shoes and trainers, something lasting and something that eliminates rather than masks the smell. Bicarb? Anything else? Other chemicals? Gran's remedy claimed to kill off the bacteria that builds up in the warm, moist environment of a shoe.
Many thanks
Stuart
