Glaxo announced a return to UK manufacturing this week. Costs benefits of overseas manufacturing abroad are diminishing.

Hundreds of senior scientists working at the centre at Thornton in Cheshire will be scattered to other offices in a move that follows the sale of the nearby Stanlow refinery and is seen by some as a more general retreat by Shell from the UK

They've really shafted Thornton big time.

Labs and analysis areas are staying as support to the refinery, the rest is gonna be turned into some sort of business park long term.

Part of a far longer term plan. As there's still a significant budget gap to bridge. Something that growth cannot fill either. As there's no cheap credit to provide a smokescreen anymore. The UK is now less productive in output terms than 10 to 15 years ago. As many thought leveraging up on debt was the way to accumulate wealth.

So politicians of all views need to readjust. Question is who is brave enough to spell out the truth first?

On their track record, obviously none of them ;) They are not bad at terminlogical inexatitudes though, so they don't really need to spell it out.:)

Agreed. Days of professional politicians are numbered. They will require a skill, experience or knowledge not just a idealogical dream in future.
