Incorrect entry on my credit report

I'm back again! This time it isn't a way to get a bully debt collector to back off - this time it is someone taking the mick on my credit report!

Over the years since I initially defaulted back in 2001 - I have spent a great deal of time and effort in cultivating my credit report and have been doing a rather fine job.

However, I log into Experian tonight and find that SHOP DIRECT FINANCE COMPANY LTD, aka Very catalogue website, has for the past 3 months entered a 'late payment' of £4.

Here's the thing, my account balance has been £0 for over 6 months.

Do I have any recourse to have this erased, and more importantly, how do I stop them from putting a negative mark against my account?

I'm livid all of the hard work I've done over the past 10 years to be a responsible credit user is now at risk over £4 so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you.

Just update - this is the email I've just sent to Very.

I am making a complaint because you, as a company, are reporting to credit scoring companies that I am missing payments to you for the total of £4. However, I have had an account balance of £0 for a couple months. And, before I had a £0 balance, there was no payment required as all purchases were made by utilising your Buy now, Pay Later scheme.

I would appreciate that these erroneous entries be rescinded as a matter of urgency. I have already initiated queries into this with Experian and have spoken to the Financial Ombudsman to find out my what recourse to rectify this situation is and was advised by the Ombudsman authority that I must contact you first to lodge the complaint, which I am doing now.

I look forward to confirmation of receipt of this request and the speedy remedy of this error as this £4 mystery charge is currently costing me my credit rating. Thank you.
