Natwest block on account, refuse to explain

Natwest has put a block on my current account so I can neither pay money in nor withdraw. I have been having problems with them and have made a formal complaint, but they refuse to tell me why my a/c is blocked,by whom and when it will be unblocked. Can they just do this ? There is a considerable amount of money in the a/c which I can't get at. Can someone please help because Natwest just refuses to talk to me. In fact Customer Services hung up on me today !

Sounds like you have a no operations marker on the account.

They might think you are money laundering or something similar.

You will need to follow the banks complaint procedure:

It would help if you could give an idea of what you mean by 'a considerable amount of money'.

They think you're either a crook or a pest....if they think you're a pest, expect them to close your account and then they will let you draw your funds out at the counter and close the account.

If they think you're a crook, expect your collar to be felt by Inspector Knacker.

The same thing has happened to me. NatWest is an appalling bank.
