Can I check my credit rating in confidentiality? Or does Experian share my details

Hi Folks

I'd like address some old debts and start to pay them off. According to CCCS this should begin by me making a credit check with Experian.

I want to be fully aware of what this would mean.

If I enter my details on the Experien website, who else can gain access to these details? (My creditors are unaware of my current address and I'd like prefer to keep control of when my address is disclosed to them)

Does anyone have any information or experience around this issue?

Many Thanks

Ade

Any creditors who report data to your credit file will be able to track your new address once its linked to your older addresses.

When you get your report via Experian, you have to agree that they can share your data with companies etc for the purposes of:
    • Checking details on applications for credit and credit related or other facilities
    • Managing credit and credit related accounts or facilities
    • Recovering debt
    • Checking details on proposals and claims for all types of insurance
    • Checking details of job applicants and employees

Meaning data will be available on services such as this one:

    ---> Autotrace Plus

Also any former creditor will likely have been given consent to search your Experian reports.

Including debt collectors who may have bought such debts.

----> Can debt collection company legally access my credit report?

So linking your current address to your old details will show them up on any search they conduct from then onwards.

    Thank you, Tixy and Fermi.

I feel that CCCS offer unclear information on this issue, so I appreciate your frank advice.
