Working in Derry, living in Donegal

Does anyone know how this works? If we move to Donegal to live and my husband works in Derry does it mean he pays tax the same way as he does here? Does that mean he is entitled to NHS etc even though he would be living in Rep of Ireland. Where would we claim Child Benefit from? What happens if I work in Donegal re tax? it's all very confusing - I hope someone knows.

Thanks

A leaflet which explains the situation as you will be a resident of RoI but working "abroad".

If you move to live in Donegal you will not be eligible for Child Benefit in the UK. You would have to claim the Irish version. As for health services, you will have no access to the NHS unless there is an emergency and the closest hospital is in Northern Ireland.

You will need to apply for medical cards via: http://www.hse.ie/en/Forms/FiletoUpload,2366,en.pdf

I would make an appointment with your local HMRC by calling 0845 302 1481 to discuss these things in full.

Just to add, you can keep a residency in NI (register at a relative's house for example) and keep using the NHS. I know of loads of people who have done this. It's probably really unethical but just so you know it can be done.
Edit - it may be illegal!
