Selling Stamps

Hi all,
My partner has a box full of loads of stamps he collected when he was a teenager, and I was just wondering does anybody know of the best way to get these valued/sold?
We have looked into it before and not really got anywhere, does anyone have experience of doing this?
Thanks

Is it a collection of specific themes or countries, or like the collection I once had, anything and everything. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

It is really anything and everything, I think he has one album that is countries but everything else is a mixture0

Other than going through the collection and looking each stamp up in Stanley Gibbons catalogues (and they're expensive these days), I don't know what to suggest. There are magazines on stamp collecting, so it might be worth just browsing through them in W H Smith to see if they have any info.
About 20 years ago I took my collection (ancient album plus several boxes full of stamp) to a dealer and was offered £10 for the lot. Sold them via free ad in local paper for £25.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
