i've called BT to tell them and they're going to contact the other guy and let him know.
i was a little perturbed by the information the woman on the phone was confirming with me, given that the first thing i said to her was 'this is not about my account'helpful tips
it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
their - 'owned by them'
they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)0 -
If it is emailed to a different email address but arriving at yours then something certainly wrong in the routing. Try contacting the email provider (so email for someone at google then contact google).
The email company for receiving (and maybe sending) must have something wrong with the routing of that email address??Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Gmail works on only the characters before the @, and ignores the "."
so
martin.lewis@gmail
martinlewis@gmail
m.a.r.t.i.nlewis@gmail
I have had exactly the same problem, still get all sorts of stuff.
I was getting payslips for someone for 6 months. In the end I made a complaint here
http://www.ico.gov.uk/
about all the stuff I was getting from companies who had not stopped sending it when I complained. All sorted, letters from them apologising, letter from the ICO about the complaint and no more emails.
will all end up in the same place.0 -
Typical company policy:
"If you are not an intended recipient of this e-mail, please notify the sender, delete it and do not read, act upon, print, disclose, copy, retain or redistribute it."
That may be their policy, but unless you have agreed to abide by it, there's not a lot they can do to enforce it.
That said, redistributing the email could be a breach of copyright. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
As has been pointed out, it is the way that gmail works. I think it's a flaw by Google that they would ever allow two people to set up different email addresses that are then treated the same within gmail. There are really only two ways round it: get Google to change their processing so that the difference is recognised, or one of you has to change their address to something unique.0

Hi
This is what I did in a similar situation:
1. worked out another email address for myself, based on a popular epithet or saying, (which can be funny and thus memorable):rotfl: not based upon my name or other identifiable feature.
2. Changed the email address.
3. Sent a "Round Robin" email, cc'd to all my contacts, with the new address.
4. Thought about others who were not on that list and discarded or contacted them.
Takes a little effort, but works. You might also find it useful to obtain an additional address, say a Hotmail or Windows Live Mail account. Or even discard the Gmail altogether. I find my Hotmail or Windows live account, to be much better. They will inform you if a similar account exists.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.
