Book Tokens in Tesco??

Does anyone know if I can 'spend' book tokens on my regular shopping in Tesco?
I have £45 of them and although there are books I'd like to buy in Tesco (they are the cheapest prices online for the one's I want), they don't stock them in store.
Or can you order books in store from them? My local sells books but only the crappy 'what we want you to read' type.
They have all I want online................but them I can't pay by book tokens :(

i'm not sure what you mean by book tokens, but i've used the £4 noney of book token that's been appearing in the papers, they have a good look but do accept.

as every store has a diff policy though you'd be better checking at cs

My local Tesco (Chesterfield) say they don't accept Book Tokens, but saying that I am sometimes able to use the £4 Book token from the Mail, a bit hit and miss really.

Why don't you ask at Customer Services? You could always sell them on e-bay

I mean the type that you get for Xmas presents. Like real book tokens. I have them in various amounts from £1 to £10 each. They say on them that they can be used in any book store.
But none have any specific store on them eg: WHSmiths, Waterstones, etc:
My logic thought that as Tesco sell books.................they may indeed take the book tokens if I don't buy a book. Like they do with any other money off voucher in Tesco.
I rang CS and completly confused the poor girl! So thought someone on here may know from experience.

My store won't tske this years world book day token £1. Strange they took them last year. I have a really nice chap that ususally takes everthing, he tried but could not get this one to work.
  • I tried to use the National Book Tokens last month and they would not scan.
I think it will have to be WHSmiths, Waterstones, Ottakers or sell them on ebay.
    Be nice to everyone:beer:

if it doesn't scan it's worth speaking to cs, they can sometimes put them in manually as long as your using them within store policy, i'd try this especially if they took them last year, the till op was happy to take them this year, but scanning was the only prob.

i've just gone along to cs after completing my shop and asking if they'd mind trying it - they've always been realy nice. if it goes through they give you cash.
