Demotion

Hello

I have never posted on this board before, but I have been around on the forums for a long time so as above - Hello.

My husband has been working for a company for 2 and half years now, and in February his manager came to him and told him that he had to start working permanent night shift.

Basically he is/was a warehouse manager in a shop, the manager came to him and told him that he could no longer be warehouse manager, with his £phr if he continued to work on days. My husband said he couldn't work nights (as I work nights and we have 2 children). His manager said he would then have to take demotion and work on the shop floor, earning basic wages and his hours cut in half from 39 to 20 a week.

This has been buzzing round my head and then I realised there was a mine of information out there on these forums if you just ask for it. Can anyone help us please?

Thank you

Can they do this, and in that way? My OH took what he was offered and has been working his (crappy) shifts because he was frightened of not having a job at all, then we would be up sh*t creek without a paddle.

How long has he been working these new shifts and did he object? Because if he has been working them and didn't object, he may have agreed to the change by doing so.
