I was dismissed yday!

Hi, I've been working at a nursing home for 2 weeks. It's not a very nice place, none of the staff were friendly or helpfull - I ended up getting quite upset yesterday because of the way I was being treated and had words with a member of staff because she shouted at me. I had reported there behavour last week to the Manager and she said she would sort it out. Anyway this woman reported me - and I was called in to the Managers office and told I was being dismissed! Due at job centre tomorrow as I have to sign on anyway! Can't believe it!

Sounds like a lucky escape. Don't worry about it...move on.

Yeah, part of me feels this way but feel really bad cos I've never been sacked before! I was told to hand bck my uniform - but I couldn't face going in with it today! Really think it was a bit harsh the way I was treated - no warning or anything!

There will be a nicer place to work in. If you can't face them, get someone else to drop off your uniform for you. Unfortunately, if you had just worked there 2 weeks, and it is in the private sector, you wouldn't have an awful lot of rights. I worked in nursing homes for years, both as a staff nurse and manager, and some are truly awful places, while some are full of caring, compassionate staff who are a joy to work with.
Get your chin back up, put it down to experience, and hopefully it won't be too long before you get another job.

Sounds like she taunted you to verbally abuse her, and recorded your conversation. You reported her but as you had no evidence nothing was done. Since you was dismissed when you got reported, she either had witnesses or a recording.

The care sector is notorious for bad handling of staff! Learn from it and good luck finding something else. If you like care work and can drive, you could always look into domicillary care xx
