Fingerprint Jewellery - Recommendations Anyone?

Hi
I'm wanting to purchase a small piece of fingerprint jewellery as a gift but I've been searching the internet courtesy of Google and have found the prices are outrageous, a keyring costs upwards of £50.

Is anyone aware of any MSE-friendly reasonably priced companies that offer this.

Thanks
Ms Choc x

    Hi

I am not sure what is about where you live but there is a place in Cornwall called 'Treasure Park' - it is a jewellery shopping complex/experience. They have a silver area where they also make these fingerprint items.
I have bought 2 pendants from them over the years, i think the last one was £20 (a lot cheaper than everywhere else i have seen them) i am getting another one this year when i go on my hols as my son is now big enough for his print to show.

Maybe there will be a similar outlet type shop near you - its worth a look.

    Hope this helps.

Hello just seen your posting, I make fingerprint jewellery and here are a few things to take have a think about when searching the net:

The pieces are Pure Silver! 99.9% Silver this is the highest form of silver you can buy - Sterling Silver is only 92.5% Pure Silver with the remainder being alloys such as copper added for strength.

What is included in the price?
Before you place your order check what is included in the price.
Most items are displayed with engraving but you will find that it is not always included. Or it can be handwritten which isn't always attractive! Check what attachments are included, items may be displayed with a chain but not included or may give you no option to have it without the chain that you may not want!!

    One of my MUST TIPS!
Check the Size and depth of the jewellery.

If a company seems to be considerably cheaper than others it may be because their items are thinner or small than other companies sometimes both!

Where possible ask for measurements both depth and approx overall size so you can compare the companies fairly.

This really, really makes a difference between having a quality piece of jewellery as some of the companies only offer a depth of 1mm 1.5mm. 2mm is still fairly thin.

I offer a price match guarantee as I am so confident you won't find the same product, like for like cheaper as many who sell at a similar price to us only use half the amount of silver or less! Or if the same amount is used they are usually more expensive!

We also offer professional engraving and bespoke boxes to compliment our range.

We have customers worldwide who have found us on Facebook.

You mentioned a keyring I can provide a small split ring that can be attached to an existing key ring or I do have some funky ones on my site - see the gallery too.
Also just take in to account adding this precious metal to a keyring with the harsh keys knocking against it will damage your piece of keepsake jewellery. I am happy to sell them as key rings but just make customers aware : )

I am just in the process of updating the site with a new payment option other than PayPal but feel free to have a look around!

We are also based within our only Department Store too (as I am based just across on The Isle Of Man), so you can feel confident in our quality being within such a store.

Any questions don't hesitate to get in touch!
    Kind Regards
    Di

My company is called Little HAnds, Little Feet I am unable to link from this site - you can also search in google under my name too which is Dianne Gains

    I have bought from pastelprint

I also have seen on here, that others have had a go themselves at home. They bought the silver clay online but not sure how they would have heated the clay, to burn off the compound.

I saw it mentioned on one of the many homemade gift threads.
  • Just a suggestion but how about making your own in that polymer clay FIMO stuff?

I made my own after seeing how expensive it was. I bought the sliver clay from the internet and watched some Youtube video's to learm how to do it. It was really simple once i knew how and i literally stuck their fingers in the clay to take the prints. The clay was about half the price of one ready made item and so far i have got 4 fingerprints in hearts and i still have some left. The process was fun too :)

a kiln ideally, but you can get similar results using a chef blowtorch or a gas hob (but be careful!). PMC is pretty easy to use but it's worth practicing with fimo first as it can dry out quite fast. It's fun stuff to play with :) If you dont want to do it yourself, folksy or etsy would be a good place to look for someone who does this. Cel x

I used a camping stove as i don't have a gas hob. I burnt it the first time as i didn't think it looked 'done' then i realised you brush it of to find the silver oops! :D
  • Hi, take a look at treasuredmetal website they do some lovely present ideas and are way more affordable!

If you're going for the DIY option, I'd suggest sticking with silver clay. I've experimented with fimo before and I don't think it shows the finger prints very clearly.
