Dmp /ssp

Finally made the big step and got myself set up on a DMP with C.A.P - all offers accepted, first payment made last month, happy days, finally getting sorted......... then..................I get taken into hosiptal with suspected meningitus :-(

First day back at work today after 2 weeks off and I find out I am only getting SSP and that is only after 3 waiting days so I am going to be nowhere near able to make the normal payment this month - I am devestated just when everything was finally coming together

Ive nothing left to ebay, nobody I can lend off, no holidays left (ironically took a week off in Feb as all hols had to be used by end of March of lose them) really dont know what to do! I know that DMC's are used to this kind of thing cropping up but I really dont want to fail at the first hurdle - I am estimating a shortfall of around £500.

Has anybody else found themselves in a similar situation? Or has anyone any bright ideas?

Only positive is I have a £55 payment from quidco due 'on next payment run' whenever that may be !

Thanks

  • I would say it'll just have to be token payments for this month. Ring CAP and explain the situation - they will be familiar with it. CCCS allow you to make token payments when real life gets in the way of your dmp. My OH is currently off sick, only with ssp as well and I've already discussed this with them as we will be short of cash if he's off for longer than a couple of months.
Don't let this get you down - you've fought off a potentially fatal disease. You're not going to let a month of cashflow problems get the better of you :D

Thanks for the response - I know exactly what you are saying and I am glad for my health but would really love to be able to make up my shortfall this month,
