Electoral roll question - FTB

Options
Hi there

Applying for a FTB part buy part rent mortgage and have had a positive DiP. Have paid all the required fees and the mortgage process is with the underwriter.

The underwriter has requested extra information in the form of a letter stating why I wasnt on the electoral roll.

To cut a long story short I moved to London 3 years ago and the couple of places I've stayed in were all bills included. Ironically I found out that my current landlord had not registered anybody for council tax and was trying to pull a fast one. I am now registered.

The underwriter has requested proof of address for the last 3 years and if I can prove this will this be sufficient or is it likely this electoral roll will be an issue?

Any advice as to what I can put in the letter explaining my lack of electoral roll inclusiveness?

Any advice would be appreciated.

    Hi there,

Tell the absolute truth and it will be fine.

They are fearful that you my exist elsewhere and have a credit issue that would be hidden.

Prove the history and be 100% honest and you will be fine...

    All the best

It never crossed my mind to lie but I didnt want to inadvertently drop myself in it either.

    Thanks for the advice.

You were spot on, I wrote a letter explaining my absence and provided 3 proofs of address dated 2009, 2010 and 2011.

I got my approval through this morning.

I just thought I'd post again in case others had a similar issue, this problem is resolvable it seems.

    Thanks again.
