Working out my annual leave

I think I got myself confused somehow can someone clarify how many days I will be entitled too? On my terms of employment it says
You will receive a paid holiday entitlement of 27 days inclusive of public/bank holidays. The public bank holidays each year are (8 in total) not going to type them out..
So basically am I paid for 27 days plus 8 public/bank holidays?
I looked at leave sheets and I have lonly been given 20 days, but the rest of the staff have been given 25?? I have worked here for half a year but other staff have worked longer is this why? the new annual leave year starts 1st April
Also they take a further 3 days out of our holidays over the christmas/new year period simply because its not busy enough?

Inclusive means 'including'. So no - not 27 days plus 8.If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0

I would interpret that as the 27 days includes bank holidays, so....
27-8=19 days
Someone else will know better than me but I thought you legally had to have 20 days per year, plus bank holidays, so not sure where the 27 days has come from? This might be skewed by the extra Jubilee bank holiday though??? As long as you get at least 20, plus the Bank Holidays, I *think* that's correct.
Yes, it is quite likely other staff will have more holiday if they've been there longer. My place of work give an extra 3 days once you've been there 5 years, plus the numbers of days goes up with promotions. Holiday will be pro rata, so if you start a job on 1st October, you would only get half the entitlement - this shouldn't affect you next year though, as you'll be there on 1st April. They can also ask you to take your holiday at a particular time of year, it tends to happen more often in certain industries such as maunfacturing and engineering, for example.0 -
Inclusive is including but it should be at least 28 days inclusive of public/bank holidays. They are also perfectly entitled to make you use some at certain times eg Christmas.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

You are paid for 27 days. That includes:
8 bank holidays
(1 extra public holiday this year for the Jubilee)
3 Fixed days for Christmas
15 floating days to be taken at a time of your choice (as long as it fits their leave policies).
Normally it would be 16 floating days.
Most places do allocate the gap between Christmas and New Year and that is legal.
As for having less holiday than the rest on your leave sheet you will need to ask that question. (I take it this is for the coming holiday year April 2012 to March 2013 as so is for a full holiday year?).
I'm also assuming you work full time? If not then your allocation might change as well.0 -
I believe that 28 days including bank holidays is the statutory minimum so 20 plus 8.
Perhaps the other staff get an incentive of an extra day for each year they have worked or something like that. Why not ask yur HR or your team leader. Does it not say anything in yur contract about earning extra days.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

The statutory minimum is 5.6 weeks a year.
For someone working 5 or more days a week that equates to 28 days a year.
If you work days of equal length, that is then quite easy.
The 28 days can include bank/public holidays. Bank/public holidays do not have to form part of the holiday entitlement - there are many employers who would want their employees to work on such days - for example in retail, hospitality, care providers.
Companies may offer more than the minimum 5.6 weeks: they cannot offer less. Additional holiday after prescribed periods of service are allowed.0 -
