Breach of contract!

Hi,
I need some advice on a matter which I believe is a breach of contract. I got offered a job and I sent back my letter of acceptance by post which took six days to get to the manager. However, just a day before my manager received my acceptance, he received an unsatisfactory reference. He has now withdrawn the contract! What rights do I have in order to claim against him?
All advice would be appreciated

Absolutely none.
Bear in mind that had he taken you on, he could have dismissed you without reason at any time during your first year of employment. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
But I accepted the offer, which means there was a contract between us. Surely I should have some sort of right?0

Chances are the offer said subject to satisfactory refs. But as posted above, you can be let go with no explanation within the first year anyway.0

Right of what? As I posted if you insisted he adhered to the contract and took you on, he could dismiss you on the day you start. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

Presuming that the reference is accurate then there is nothing you can do.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

okay fair enough he can dismiss me at any time, but if I take him to court would I have a case against him?0

Can you afford to take him to court? It costs money, even more when you lose and have to pay his costs. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

Apparently all advice appreciated except advice the OP doesn't want to hear!
Sorry OP you have nothing to go on here. The contract will be 'subject to satisfactory references' (And even if it wasn't your chances of recompense are very minimal)
Do you know whom thr bad reference was from and if it was unfair? Your only (slim as hell) chance here is from that angle.Go round the green binbags. Turn right at the mouldy George Elliot, forward, forward, and turn left....at the dead badger0 -
You don't have a leg to stand on I'm afraid. Why is your reference not satisfactory? Were you fired in your previous job?0
