No response from second interview and email

Hi I am posting this for a friend of mine.
She is currently working at a contact center and want's to leave after having a hard time.
Anyway she went for an interview in late February and was called back for a second interview 8th March. She was told that 75 people had applied for the position and 15 was selected for interview and 3 was then selected for second interviews, so in all I would say she had done a good job.
Anyway she was sent an email 9th March to say they had made a decision but couldn't tell the person that was successful until it was signed of by the executive.
Today she sent a follow up email to tell them she was still interested in the position and hopefully they would have an outcome soon.
She is now panicking saying she thinks she never got the job and they are making her sweat for no reason, what can I say or do to get her to calm down and stop being para?

It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun

Sometimes picking up the phone is better than email. Does she have a number she can call. Doesn't have to be the person who interviewed her, it could be HR, and the polite question is 'do you know when they will make a decision' (note, not 'have you made a decision').
Unfortunately, if that doesn't work, then it's just a case of waiting. You could tell her that if she'd made a mess of it, they wouldn't keep her hanging on like this. I think she either has the job, or is the second choice.
It's tough though, I know, I've been there!0 -
She only has the mobile number of the person that interviewed her and she doesn't want to ring it as she doesn't want to come across as chasing as she has already sent an email without a response.
I must admit that 11 days to be told an outcome does seem a little long. It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0 -
Are HR listed on a website somewhere?0

There is a Head Office but she is scared to contact them.
I think she should move on and start looking for work elsewhere as I don't know what the average wait time is for a response. It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0 -
They could just be slow in making a decision, or getting sign-off to appoint.
Some places are painfully slow as I'm finding out. I went for an interview on 23 February, and was invited back for a "second interview" on 1 March, which was actually a test. I was told I'd hear the outcome the next day, and when I didn't, I assumed I'd been unsuccessful.
Nearly 2 weeks later I got an email inviting me to another "second interview" (!!) which takes place tomorrow - nearly a month after the first one. I should add this is for an admin role, nothing senior or important. I'm not even sure I want the job anymore :rotfl:
But I agree a phone call is probably the best bet. Even if it's not the news your friend is hoping for, at least she'll know where she stands.0 -
Patience is key here and a determined nature is a good thing shows you really want to work for the company. I would advise to tell your friend to make a call to the person who interviewed her and maybe even a call to head office's HR department, there is nothing to lose.0

I had a second interview on Feb 7th, but didn't hear till March 7th that I got the job. This was also due to it being signed off by one of the executives. I followed up half way through waiting and was told they were waiting for someone to sign off the paperwork. After waiting another 2 weeks I gave up hope, but then I found I got the job! I start in 4 weeks!0

Awful when they leave you hanging like that! And they risk losing a good applicant to another role as well!0

Quick update she got the job and they want her to start on Monday
