Who do I need for my mortgage?

Who exactly do I need for mine?

Putting down £10k deposit, probably more, and was given the contact details for a financial advisor, do I need him? Who do I need?

People at the estate agents, a solicitor, and the people to buy from?

Just wanted to know who exactly.

Cheers!

You will need a Mortgage Advisor to find you the best deal - make sure that they are whole of market (ask them that as a direct question).

You will need a solicitor (unless you are doing your own conveyencing, but as I assume you're a FTB, this is not really an option).

Not sure what you mean about needing the estate agents and the people you buy from.

Well I obviously need an estate agent to find a house that's listed, and the person that's selling the house in the first place or there wouldn't be a house to buy!

Do I need a financial advisor?

you dont need an estate agent you can have a private sale or perhaps buy off the internet. Solicitor is needed.
It is better to check that mortgage advisor is independent as he will select from the whole of market but may have motre advantageous fee terms and there are plenty of independent advisers who are broker fee free.
A mortgage adviser is not actually needed because you could go into your local branc of xyz bank or building soc but you are unlikely to get the best deal that way. so if its not going to cost you anything then why not use it.
I like to give people as many choices as possible to do what I want them to. (Milton H Erickson I think)

Who gave you the contact details of the adviser? If it was friends or family the you should be ok, as they will have used the adviser.

If they are from the estate agent, then just be careful and make sure that the adviser is fees free and whole of market - some estate agent advisers only work from a limited panel
