a). No one will lend you £20k on a £9k salary.
b). On top of the loan repayment, you will have campsite fees you've not mentioned.
c). The vehicle will need taxing, insuring and maintaining.
d). You will not be eligible for any benefit payments such as Housing Benefit.
e). Are you sure you could live in a motorhome on a permanent basis.
f). £20k is not a lot for a motorhome. Have you checked the price in one of the motorhome magazines?
a) Doesn't surprise me really
b) I have mentioned site fees, just not how much. But I am actually in the trade indirectly and have mate's rates :-)
c) Have factored that in
d) I don't claim anything- I'm working.
e) Have done this before and love it- it stops me buying clutter!
f) For this model, age and mileage this is a steal- again it's mate's rates :-)0 -
If it is mates rates are you allowed to remain on the site permanently ? Do others on the site pay council tax or is it for motorhomes only ?There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;

sorry i cant comment on your loan situation and i hope you get something sorted.
have you lived in a motorhome or caravan before? i ask this as i have ( did so for a few years) i know everyone's experience is different but i wouldnt ever want to go back to it... in winter the van was freezing even with the heating on we were cold, our clothes were all mouldy and rotten in no time, in summer it was far far too hot, we used to have to open the windows and curtains and sit outside for a while every day when we came home from work to wait till the can cooled down, we really struggled with space for things ( it was a 6 berth we had)
i'm not saying your experience will be like this just wanted to give you the heads up to possible problems
good luck with whatever you choose to do0 -
Gothicfairy: Yes, it's a permanent plot on a colleague's site. There would be some bartering on handyman jobs with my partner, hence low rates etc.
elantan: Yes, I've lived in a caravan twice before, both times in slightly scruffy accommodation that required a lot of work to keep mildew at bay, and coped well. This is a top-end and very luxurious 6-berth motorhome of a much better standard so I know I'd be fine.0 -
Good luck with it - it is something I've always wanted to do (though touring round rather than static) but never had guts. I think you'll have problems with the loan though.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

I think someone last year on MSE was wanting to sell or rent out a converted bus.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0
