I've gone to the Dark Side!

I bought a new mobile on Saturday.
I made an unexpected choice. I own a fair bit of Apple kit, a 27" iMac, a MacBook Pro laptop, an iPod Classic and my current mobile an iPhone 3G.
The obvious, and given my other Apple kit, sensible thing to do would be an iPhone 4S and that was my intention.
However, I've had the 3G a long time and despite being very happy with it, and the way it integrates with the Macs, the 4S was just too much of the same. I couldn't do it, I fancied a change.
I bought myself a Samsung Galaxy 2, I've gone Android!
So far so good, I love it and much to my surprise it integrates with the iMac as easily as the iPhone.
What did throw me was that I put the SIM card in it while in the shop and it asked me if I had a Google account so I entered my Gmail ID and thought nothing of it, I was going to sort it out when I got home.
A little later while in the supermarket it went ding and I thought it was a text but it was a reminder. It stopped me dead, how the heck did it know!
A quick look showed the calendar was bang up to date and not only that all my contacts, complete with pictures, were there too, scary!
It had automatically synced all my stuff with Gmail. At some point I must have set the iMac up to sync my Outlook calendar and contacts with Gmail. I used to use the Gmail web interface to access personal emails when I was in certain secure buildings that don't allow personal laptops or mobiles.
All I had to do was transfer my other files and music over. It even syncs with iTunes using something called iSyncer.
So, what are the killer, must have Android Apps?

Apart from Angry Birds???
I use Juice Defender to eek out the battery life on my Galaxy Ace.
Aside from that I'd explore Google Play. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
I think it has to be 'hello kitty beauty salon'.

Useful stuff - Google navigation (very good satnav), shopper (allows you to scan barcodes in shops for best online and local deals), flashlight (useful torch app), Sky Go and Sky+ if you are a Sky subscriber, Samsung remote or SammyGo remote if you have a Samsung Smart TV, Sling Player if you have a Slingbox, Google Sky Map if you like star-gazing, ColourNote - useful post-it app, Bump, Photoshop, Kindle, 3G Watchdog (usage tracker), BA app if you fly BA, CamScanner - scans to pdf, myTrack if you are a walker, Tesco Grocery app, Volume Locker (avoids accidental volume adjustments) and probably more. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

And just for a bit of fun ..... Talking Tom.:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:
Any posts are my opinion and only that. Please read at your own risk.0 -
Seconded, An absolute must is Talking Tom!
Also it should still be cheap, Where's My water is a Disney one that keeps me totally occupied for waiting times for buses etc. Puzzle game play, very addictive (already completed it on my Xoom, redoing it on my phone.
Android works the same way over devices as apple does basically, you buy for one thing, can use it on the others without having to pay again etc.
Some nice things I use are a decent weather app. Currently use the Sense one for HTC on my lock screen, love it when it rains, get neat rain drops, and a wiper animation, prolly battery hogging, but why strip when you have nice clothes on?
I also use Handcent SMS over the normal text services, and Rings extended allow me to use my own ringtones/notifications etc.
For general multiple widget use I also use widgetsoid. gives you a plain screen widget with multiple uses/info. I use one for battery, on/off wifi, and various other things. I also use something called Phoneusage for allowing me to display a small basic widget with my net/text/call usage.0 -
