I need an account number and sort code asap to have my salary paid in. What are my options? Do brances give out account/sort code details straight away?

when I opened an account for teenager they did all the paperwork and put us on the system there and then and gave us the sort code and account number . We went downstairs and paid a cheque in on the way out of the building.0
