WASHING MACHING - Says 1500, just found out only 1300, what can I do?

Options
I've had my Servis Easilogic 1500rpm washing machine for 2years. Stopped working so we took the back off& had a look, the label inside says 1300rpm!!!

1500rpm is printed on the front of the machine.

The shop I bought it from closed down a year ago, where do I stand? Can I ring Servis & complain? what is the likely outcome?

Washing machine is fixed & working fine now, just very slow compared to a 1500 I'm sure!!

(also is this on the right thread?? sorry if not!)

Thanx
Krystal

If I were you I would ring Servis, I would like to see how they explain this one!

It seems to go against the Trades Descriptions Act I would have thought, I wouldn't be surprised if you could get a new machine if you are right and approach the call with a little thought. I would mention it had broken down, you were disappointed as it's a relatively new-ish machine by most standards...then you were horrified to find it was not the spin-speed level you paid for.

If the shop was still there you could have approached them but Servis should certainly be answerable for this one anyway.

Good luck, please post later what they say!

  • Yes, I would also contact service too. Just make sure it says 1500 is the spin and not the model number to save any egg flying your way.

If the machine does say its a 1500 spin and it isn't then yes, this is wrong and I would imagine service being the manufacturer would have some kind of accountability for its mistake.

Some of these different spin speed washers are identical and they just fit a resistor to slow down the motor on spin.. Its a bit of a con really ( charging more for a faster spin model when the slower spin model is identical )

Perhaps your model is available in 1300rpm and 1500rpm speeds and the resistor has been removed on yours to make it the 1500rpm variant. You would of expected the sticker to have been removed or a 1500rpm sticker stuck over the top though ( though perhaps it had one , but has fell off).

The extra 200rpm is not going to make much difference anyway.

yes good one this, Now firstly where do you live?? if you are in my catchment area i can supply the number for an account manager so long as you dont say where it came from, Servis customer servis are terrible so dont expect any joy.
Though if it was a shop you could claim breach of contract and i suppose you can also claim this with servis them selves directly.

We has a similar issue not so long ago where we sold a customer a servis fridge/freezer and we supplied the wrong one a more expensive and larger one, the customer didnt notice for 2 years when they final looked at the instructions as they wanted a frost free one and we supplied a non frost free, i spoke with tradiung standards who advised if the customer wished they could have us for breach of contract as we had not supplied what the customer had purchased even though it was better. they suggested a that we could offer the customer the orinal f/freezer at a discount in proportion to what they havent used ie havent had 2 years of use out of it so a 40% discount perhaps could be offered. This the customer accepted and we didnt even have to refund the old one so even though we lost a little money on both machines it could have been a lot worst

  • 200rpm isn't much difference, apart from probably £100 when I bought it. I'll ring tomorrow and see what they say. The machine is def. 1500rpm as it has a dial with 100....400...blah..blah..1300...1500..as choice of settings!!!
