To know EXACTLY where you are with regards to expiring points (the very date they WILL start to "vanish") I do have a "simple" method that doesn't rely on just adding them all up with a pen & paper or getting a calculator out

When you used your code did you use the amazon code & link from the email or Promotions under Your Mail Points Activity section (0 points) or from the Rewards section (2000 points)?
I've just checked mine and 0 points for download on 2nd March.
I've no idea, I input my codes as usual and a screen came up saying I am eligible for a free book download so I clicked it. I haven't even used the code sent by email to get a book yet.
A you can see from the above it says 2000 points used on a FREE book download.0
