Last September (2012), I traded 6800 points collected over a long period for a £25 Tesco voucher.
Uptil then, I have traded only 1500 points at a time for £5 Tesco vouchers, (4 times in all). Other than that the only other trade in was for a Zavvi voucher which when I tried to use it on line I found that the catalogue of items available was basically stuff they couldn't sell otherwise. I did get a satisfactory resolution out of that debacle but that's another story!
I digress!
I find now that if you want the same Tesco vouchers, you have to save up 2000 points for a £5 voucher and a massive 9500 for a £25 voucher. This represents a massive increase of 33.3% for the former and a even more massive increase of 39.7% for the latter.
I have complained to the Daily Mail Rewards Scheme who sent me this:
"Thank you for yourmessage regarding the increased rewards values.
The Mail Rewards Shop operates like any online store and Mail Points values(like prices) are liable to change from time to time. This is due tofluctuations in the price at which we are able to acquire these items for ourmembers.
We endeavour to deliver all items to our members at the best possible price andapologies for any inconvenience this has caused.
If you have any further queries, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Best regards,
Emma

Personally I feel that this is a "brush-off".
I have written back and complained with the comment that this is not a fluctuation and that such increases cannot be classified as such. I strongly suspect that many of the stores who initially signed up with the DM and MoS are now trying to back off wishing that they hadn't joined up. Judging by a lot of unjustified increases in food cost at Tesco in particular, (we do most of out shopping at Tesco, unfortunately), it would seem that this may be the case.
I am very angry that I have saved up nearly another 9000 points again only to find that they are worth a hell of a lot less than they were less than a year ago.
Any body else got any comments - shall we start a revolution?0 -
Shanker,
I got that exact same "copy and paste" response when I complained that the Soup Maker was suddenly dropped and I was only halfway to saving for one. Their standard response didn't even make sense to the question I posed.0 -

Here's the latest response from The Mail Rewards people.
Thank you for yourmessage regarding Mail Points.
Now that we are printing Unique Numbers every day of the week, you can now earneven more Mail Points. It has however been necessary to increase the number ofMail Points required to offer our members the fantastic rewards that they want.
We believe we are still as generous as before as you will still be able to earnall the rewards as quickly by earning more Mail Points each week. With otherrewards programme you have to spend a lot more to get the same rewards as weare offering.
If you have any further queries please feel free to contact me.
Kind regards
Emma
The Mail Rewards Team
They are obviously not mathameticians and this self belief that they are as generous as before is absolutely stupid!
