Long story short...I had 4 injectors reconditioned by a local company as my van was not starting when left for a while and air bubbles were appearing in the fuel lines. I spoke to the company concerned and they said it would be an injector problem and if I could get them taken out and left with him he could test them. He told me all were outside the specification and would need refurbished. New ones were over £220 each plus vat so I agreed on the rebuild that would leave them "as good as new"

My mechanic removed them, and they were refurbished, fitted again.....same problem. I left it into a Renault specialist who diagnosed a faulty injector......When I returned the faulty one to the company I was told it was contaminated fuel and no comeback...

So I want to have the fuel tested to see if it is contaminated to take it further.

Since the Renault specialist fitted another injector the van is running great and starting with no problem.

Sorry about the long post!
Dave

There used to be a firm around the Milewater Rd/docks area in Belfast but I have no further details

Here is a link to a firm in Dublin, but might not be worth the expense involved?

There's a set up in Queen's called Questor who carry out analysis. There's another crowd at Queen's called ASEP who do it too. If you call the QUB switchboard they canput you through (closed today though).

This sounds very familiar. I have had similar problems with a Renault. You may well find it revisits you after about a year. I was told that Renaults are particularly prone to this problem.

Would be very interested to know the outcome.

  • Hmmm!

As good as new. I would have my doubts !

David Brown of Bangor (07729 786822) will test fuel for you.He used to work in test house at docks but went out on his own. You might even be able to leave sample in Belfast area for him to collect. You can discuss your requirements with him. There are dozens of tests that can be conducted on fuel. However he will advise what is best and most economically worthwhile for you and even if it is worth your while to even bother getting it tested.

I have used his services in the past.

However if your fuel is clear, looks Ok and doesn't smell of kerosene or petrol it will more than likely be OK.

Also bear in mind that if you find the sample is contaminated !

how are you going to prove it came from your tank?
