TheHut.com - discount codes which don't even exist

I've bought from Thehut.com many times in the past and have always been happy with the service and goods. Every so often you pick up a DVD, CD or box set which is cheaper than on the bigger sites like Amazon and Play.

Every weekend they sent me through an e-mail with all their latest deals. Only this week they are advertising a 10% discount which doesn't exist when you attempt to use it.

Scroll down to £10 off - Spend £100 Save £10, enter LEAPYEAR100 at the basket

So I was pleasantly surprised to see the complete Foyle's War DVD boxset on offer (£15 cheaper than Amazon) and added some other DVDs I had on my watch-list to my basket in order to make it up to £105.

So I went to enter the discount code in the shopping basket above and get the message "The discount code you entered is not an active offer"

Here's the offer on their front page (link above) -

And what happens at the checkout when you attempt to enter the code -

Poor show. Advertising discount codes which don't work.

Has anyone else had similar problems this weekend?

I forgot to mention, could someone please click the link below and confirm they see the same page as above with the 10% discount advertised.

I am planning on contacting The Hut's customer services tomorrow morning and don't want the offer to be wiped from their website and told I was "mistaken" about the dates.

Am going to contact The Hut tomorrow and see if they'll honour the deal and give me a 10% discount as advertised. If they can afford to knock back a £105 sale then I'll just hold off a couple of months until Foyle's War is reduced on either Amazon or Play.

No skin off my nose. I can afford to wait a few months and it will come down in price eventually. :D

Have to say I've always had good dealings with The Hut and have spent a lot of money on their website so I hope they will do the decent thing and honour their price promise.

The code on the banner on the site was incorrect this weekend. If you use MD100 you will be able to save the 10% advertised.

It worked. Thanks very much Katie. I'm over the moon. Would have been gutted to have lost out as everything I had in my basket was slightly cheaper than on other websites.

    Happy endings. :T

It might be ok to buy a DVD or a pair of socks from thehut.com but I'd advise against buying electonic goods from them. I bought a sim free blackberry curve 8520 8 months ago. It has failed after only 7 months use but they are refusing to take it back for a repair or replacement. They claim only to offer a six month warranty and have e-mailed me to state that as the phone was bought more than 6 months ago they have no further obligations to me and that I must contact the manufacturer. This assertion is nonsense and clearly contravenes the Sale of Goods Act. When I phoned their 'customer service' to complain the guy I spoke to claimed the Sale of Goods Act doesn't apply to them "because we are an on line retailer!! - ridiculous.

Looks like I'll have to contactTrading Standards. I won't be buying anything else from this lot, my advice is to steer well clear.
