Advice regarding being Self Employed

Hi,

I am asking for advice on behalf of my friend who has just completed course in Homeopathy and wants to start his own practice.
Can please somebody advise me about what should he be doing i mean with regards to tax etc. I know he should get a National Insurance number but what else?

Thanks in advance
Jatt

He needs to register as self employed and keep financial records.

Have a look on www.hmrc.gov.uk at the self employed section. It tells you all you need to know and how to register for self assessment and national insurance.

Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.
  • It has already been mentioned that he needs to register as self-employed with HMRC.

He needs to complete form CWF1 which is available from HMRC wesite. This must be done within three months of starting self-employment.
