Asda's Extortionate Price Rises

I was in Asda earlier today and could not believe the price rises that have happened on some goods just lately.

I buy a Cadbury twin pack choc trifle normally 99p. Now this has been 99p ever since the packs were reduced to twin packs from a three pack and the pots also shrunk.
Asda now have these at £1.18 per pack! That's a rise of 19p in a week.

What the h is going on??

People like you are still buying them through the price rises.

    That's a rise of 19p in a week.

And how exactly do you think increases should take place ? 1p per week for 19 weeks :rotfl:

I just love the bandwagon on here that

    a) feels that price rises should not happen
    b) gets sucked in by 'brand' pricing strategy

Given the relatively small number of dairy producers in the UK it's more than likely that a competitive product from the same manufacturer has now taken over the 99p mantle (or alternatively said manufacturer has had a bit of a tiff with Asda and withdrawn their funding)

Your power and choice is to vote with your feet - whinging about it and looking for simple explanations is a waste of time and energy

It's not just Asda, its every shop in the country.

Wages have to be paid for, Electric, gas, fuel for wagons, the list is endless and of course we, as an end user have to pay for it. Everything that the shop pays for has risen in pprice horrendously.

I don't think there's any way of avoiding price rises other than shopping around, and even then with so much competition I think the time and cost of travel probably wouldn't justify visiting many supermarkets. I think I avoid the worst of it by not buying processed food and buying fresh produce seasonally. If I buy branded food products, it's generally because they are on a too-good-to-beat offer.

I love my luxuries but am not fussed about buying luxury food items when I know I can make better myself.

So I ask again - is 1p per week over 19 weeks more acceptable than 19p in one week ?

And as for your "i thank you :D" then if you're that old you should know better and show some respect

    Lol

I dont think they are that old really.

An older person would probably have started each new sentence with a capital letter.;)
