  • Yes, I spotted that too - the only Toshiba TV Tuner listed on their site is one of those USB stick jobbies, not something you can plug straight into the monitor to make a standalone LCD digital TV. Bang goes my idea of having smart looking telly in the new kitchen!

I could be wrong about this - people that have bought different V7 displays on Amazon report that the picture quality of the bundled analogue only tuner is pretty dire, but things improve greatly when a Freeview box is plugged into it's SCART socket! Can somebody buy one and report back please?

Marginal, you must be joking lol. It makes a huuuuuge difference.
Perhaps there's something wrong with your monitor. On all the ones I've used, the improvement is marginal if there is an improvement at all.

There isn't one - this is a computer monitor. You can't connect a standard Freeview box to it.

you connect the freeview to the

    "bundled tv tuner"
  • Let's not fall out guys - all I was saying is that some people on Amazon that have bought other V7 displays with bundled tuners seem to be suggesting that the tuner supplied, although crap and analogue, has a SCART input for an external device, like a DVB-T box or DVD player. Alternatively it will just turn up with a USB stick receiver which is neither use nor ornament if you want to use it as a standalone telly - first person to buy one please tell us what you get!

if i recall you can get scart to vga convertyors though i would mention that the refresh rate of 60hz is either a misprint or not suitable for long term use if you dont want headaches.

It won't be a misprint - 60Hz is not unusual for LCDs, and won't cause headaches, because they don't behave in the same way as CRTs.

  • At the risk of sounding dim - having bought a laptop - is there some sort of gadget I can buy for a reasonable price that will turn my 17" LCD monitor into a working TV?
