The Best Waterpfoof mascara known to man: Can you help?!

Options
Cutting a long story short, I have a pretty big funeral to go to (bit in its impact rather then size of the Church!) I need to get a decent waterproof mascara.

I have noticed rather dramaticly over the past few days, all the mascaras I have are in no way waterproof and I need to get one that works!

I know the stuff about not rubbing my eyes as it will smudge even the strongest waterproof mascara but there are some-and it would seem quite a few! Which just do not work and stream down your face at the first chance! I also have a problem with mascaras that flake when wet, I have rimless glasses and the flakes get trapped inside my glasses and no amount of scrubbing or rinsing gets that out. Bojours are the worst for that!

Does anyone have any tips for a decent waterproof version?

It's called "Blinc". You can only get it online, it costs about £16 a tube (but can get really cheap / sometimes free sample sizes sent quickly to you) and works by coating each individual lash in a flexible tube of plastic. So there is no colour to run.

I am addicted to it :j
  • I love my Bad gal lash mascara from Benefit and they do it in Waterproof. Its amazing.

Or could you wear false eyelashes?? Maybe you think they're tacky, i dont know!

I like this stuff too, but it doesn't really 'build up' if that's what you like.

Clarins sell a tube of clear mascara that waterproofs any other mascara. Think it's called something like Perfect Fix. So you can use any other mascara and then make it waterproof. Hasn't failed me yet (I even wore it during labour!)

Look out for swim-proof (as opposed to just waterproof) mascara. I think it's more readily available in the U.S. than here, though, so it may not be cheap.

I had the same issue a few years ago - I bought a Max Factor one, it worked a treat, did not budge all day, and many tears were flowing.

  • Yes, Max Factor aqua lash was the best ever and could only be removed with oil but sadly it's no longer available and the other MF mascara's just ain't the same. The best replacement I've come up with is L'Oreal's telescopic.

Max Factor sounds promising, I'd tried L'Oreal before and they always clumped on me so am a bit wary of their mascaras. Does anyone know if any stores sell the Blinc mascaras? I'd be interested to try but don't want to miss ordering and it not arriving in time- plus the tears are already there, It'd be great to get something asap!

In terms of a build up, does anyone have any tips on removing the stuff? I tend to use a normal cleanser then go over my lashes with a cream cleaner/moisturiser (whatever needs using up!) then a baby wipe/facial wipe. I normally get everything off, if not using a cotton bud but have not been using a waterproof mascara for that very reason (because I find it hard to remove). I've tried the two-part eye makeup removers and also olive oil or coconut oil but they all leave my eyes blurry for ages!

Blinc list stockists on their uk website. That stuff comes off with water, bizarrely, but only warm water. Nothing else will shift it.

Otherwise, I've been wearing waterproof mascara for over 20 years. Boots botanists eye make up remover has never failed me.
