Have Solar PV?? Check Your Meter!!

Have you had solar panels installed?

Please make sure you check that your main electricity meter is micro generation compatible.

Here's why.....

Some meters have an anti fraud feature which means that if you pass electricity backwards through the meter that the meter reading still goes up.

This means that when your panels generate excess electricity that your meter will register this and you'll be charged accordingly.

Our meter is a Siemens S2AS-100 and is being swapped out next week.

I realise that this situation incurs a relatively small cost, after all we're getting paid 43p per kW and an additional 3.1p for 50% of whatever we're generating. However we did this because we're cost conscious and you wouldn't want to be paying your supplier any more than you need to!

I've heard of this a few times in the past, always with a Siemens meter. Clever anti-fraud Germans!

Anyone ever heard of another make that records positive import, regardless of direction electricity is flowing?
