Robinson Way Limited bothersome letter!

Hi all, this is my first thread :) hope someone can help me out as I've noticed that Robinson Way are familiar to some of you.

A couple of weeks ago I received a letter from the offending company asking me to confirm if my address was correct, straight away I checked online to see who they were and as to be expected was distressed to see that they are a debt collectors :( I found previous threads on here regarding RW and decided to take advice from there and ignore the letter.
Today however, another delightful letter came from them stating that I owe United Utilities Water £613.50 for water supplied to an old address. I haven't lived at the address for 2 years and have lived at two address in between there and where I am now. Although at the time I had a few bills that were in the red they were always paid and I would've never let a bill get that out of control. I only have a handful of paperwork from that address but thankfully I have two letters relating to the last water bill for £282.88 and also proof via my bank that it was paid.
What should I do now? I don't know whether or not to call UU or my old letting agents to see what they will say. I saw on a previous thread regarding RW of a 'prove it' letter, perhaps someone can advise me? I really don't like the threat of bills over my head as a single mum it quite frankly scares and upsets me :(
Many thanks

Send the prove it letter / stop worrying / it is up to them to prove you have an unpaid debt / send recorded delivery / download proof of delivery and signature from Royal Mail Website / keep this safe / await their response / when and if they respond post back here for more advice / stop worrying .

  • Many thanks Wrinkles, its just so hard not to worry it really was the last thing I wanted to happen on top of an already horrible year.
Has anyone got a link for the 'prove it' letter?
I really don't know if I should contact my old letting agent or United Utilities to find out what's going on/complain as I don't want either to try and put a bill on me that I don't owe.
  • I take it when I send off the letter it would not be wise to sign it?

Do not sign / print your signature / DCA have in the past been known to forge signatures on documents / why give them a present .

That link is to a hybrid statute barred letter. You need a prove-it letter.

    Prove-it

They should refer the query to UU and you should receive documentation 'proving' the debt. You can argue from there. It may relate to a period after you left or it may be based on an estimated reading. Anything's possible. See what they come back with.
